National Level Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE)

NSTSE is a diagnostic test which helps students improve their overall learning ability and educational performance.

Unlike other tests which may only find out how much a student knows or has memorised, NSTSE measures how well a student has understood the concepts and provides a detailed feedback on the same, to help him/her improve.

Thus NSTSE helps each student to know early, whether he/she has properly understood a concept, so that immediate action can be taken to correct the aberration and pave a path for improvement. Often, students develop conceptual gaps which increase as the students go to higher classes and turn those into a ‘phobia’ for the subject.

School tests - including board exams - tend to test children superficially, only to the extent what they have memorised. But the important skills like the ability to think independently and reason logically – most critical in today's world - are often not aimed at or tested in school tests.

The focus on fundamentals is very important as when the child finishes studies he/she will have to face the competitive world armed with those fundamentals. Even while opting for higher studies, a student has to go through a complete scan of what he/she knows and how much. Exams like IIT-JEE, AFMC, AIIMS, GRE, GMAT, CAT etc., are designed to test the fundamental strength of a student. Hence the need of the hour is to build the fundamental-base as strong and as early as possible. This exactly is the philosophy behind Unified Council's NSTSE.

In NSTSE, the emphasis for assessment of scholastic skills is mainly on Mathematics and Science.

NSTSE aims at improvement rather than comparison or grading. It also reduces the stress of exams by checking ‘understanding and reasoning’ rather than just ‘knowing’.

Students of classes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX & X.

Individual Registration :

We accept direct/individual applications for the NSTSE.

You can register for NSTSE at http://www.unifiedcouncil.com Online payment facility (Net Banking/Debit/Credit Card) is also available.

Registration through School :

Please send a single consolidated Demand Draft for the exam fee of all the students appearing for the NSTSE from your school.

D.D. should be drawn in favour of UNIFIED COUNCIL payable at HYDERABAD.

Frame the list of students in the FORMAT (preferably typed and send it to our address along with the D.D by Courier Service / Register Post / Speed Post.

NSTSE EXAM PATTERN

Each class has a different question paper.

All questions are objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answers.

NSTSE Question Papers are suitable for students following CBSE / ICSE / ISC and various other State Board syllabi.

STUDENT PERFORMANCE REPORT

We are providing Student's performance report (SPR) for individual students, which provides all the details of.

• His/Her chosen answers for all questions in the NSTSE
• Correct answers for all questions in the exam
• Subject wise marks
• Subject wise and over all ranking in the national level
• Average marks of all the students in different subjects
• Group Highest Marks
• Question wise analysis, Skill wise analysis

SPR provides real feedback on real learning. Allows students to know where he/she stands and pinpoints areas of strength and weakness.

This exam is for feedback and improvement.

This report will be helpful for each and every student to analyses his/her performance and improve upon it.

Cost of SPR: Rs. 15.

Awards

Ranking System

When more than one student gets an equal top score, priority for awarding ranks will be according to the marks acquired in the specified order of sections in the question paper.

In case of a tie in deciding a rank because of the same marks, the time taken for completing the test is considered for deciding the rank. One who has taken less time for completing, gets the upper rank.

Prizes for National Achievers

A. NSTSE topper is awarded Rs. 2,00,000 cash prize*. The student who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes is declared as NSTSE Topper.

B. The top rankers and next 2 rankers in each class are awarded a Laptop and a Tablet PC respectively + a Memento, each.

C. Rankers 4 to 10 and 11 to 25 of each class, are each awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 respectively.

Rankers from 1-25 are awarded with Olympiad Coach Online Subscription worth ?1998, a Medal and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Participation certificates are offered to all students who appear for the examination.

Prizes for State toppers

Top 10 rankers in each State (minimum of 10,000 students in a particular State) are each awarded a special award as a token of encouragement. They are awarded with Olympiad Coach Online Subscription worth Rs. 1998, a Medal and a Certificate of Appreciation, each.

Note :State-wise ranks are declared after excluding the top 25 ranks across the country.
