International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO)

IMO in India leading to participation in the International Mathematics Olympiad is organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).The Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India, which leads to the participation of Indian students in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is organized by the HBCSE.Mathematics Olympiads take place worldwide, aiming to acknowledge exceptional young individuals who display exceptional mathematical skills. the International Maths Olympiad is renowned for promoting mathematical excellence globally. Serving as an excellent platform, it celebrates and rewards talented mathematicians from all corners of the globe.

Mathematics Olympiad program stages :

The IOQM is being conducted by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India). More details about the IOQM will be announced in the first week of July 2023 on the MTA(I) website https://www.mtai.org.in/ .

Date: September 3, 2023 Time: 10:00 to 13:00 hours (IST).

Duration: 3 hours

Total marks: 100

The answer to each question is an integer in the range 00-99. No negative marking. OMR-based exam.

Composition of the paper: 10 questions of 2 marks each; 10 questions of 3 marks each; 10 questions of 5 marks each.

The Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO), the second stage of the selection process, will test participants’ problem-solving abilities and their capacity to construct detailed proofs.

It is scheduled : Date: October 29, 2023; Time: 13:00 to 16:00 hrs

Duration: 3 hours

Number of questions: 06

Each question requires writing detailed proof.

Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)

Number of questions: 06

Date: January 21, 2024; Time: 12:00 to 16:30 Hrs.

Duration: 4.5 hours

Each question requires writing detailed proof.

To participate in the IOQM, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, which will be specified at a later date. The selection criteria for advancing from the IOQM to the RMO will also be published in due course. However, the selection criteria for progressing from the RMO to the INMO have yet to be announced and will be revealed at a later date.

In the 2023-2024 cycle, the selection to the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) will be accomplished in three stages.
